Stone
Plummets

Plummet stones were tied to cords or leather strips allowing the "Fort Ancient" people to find perpendicular thus giving them a way to survey (plot and mark straight lines). This ability would facilitate making square house walls or setting up grid systems to make it easier to construct oval or round mounds or other earthworks. Other possible uses of these stones could be to make a bull rower (a musical instrument), jewelry or sewn onto clothing to create a clicking sound as they strike each other when the clothing is worn.
